Anson was born in Hong Kong and obtained his BSc (Chemistry and Biochemistry) from the University of Hong Kong in 2017. With an interdisciplinary interest in Chemistry and Biology, he started his research career as a research assistant in the Department of Clinical Oncology. Then he obtained his MPhil from the University of Hong Kong in 2021 focusing on the synthesis of mechanically interlocked molecules. After his graduation, he worked under the supervision of Dr Franco King-Chi Leung from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, investigating photoresponsive amphiphilic self-assembly for a year. In 2022, he moved to Manchester, UK and started his PhD study in 2024
