Katie was born in Barcelona in 2002. She completed her MChem in 2024 at Lancaster University, where she worked on the synthesis of allene-derived gold complexes and their applications in medicinal chemistry and catalysis under the supervision of Dr. Paz Muñoz. In September 2024, she became a PhD student in the FreiLab and Duhme-Klair groups at the University of York. She is currently working on the catalytic and antimicrobial properties of water-soluble catalysts. Outside of the lab, Katie enjoys hiking, rock climbing and cooking
