Sofia, with Portuguese background was born in Morges, Switzerland in 1991. She completed her Bachelor´s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2021) at the University of Bern. During the B.Sc. thesis, she worked on the synthesis and analysis of different short mixed chirality linear Antimicrobial Peptides in the Reymond group at the University of Bern. In September 2022, she joined the Frei Lab as a Master student to work on the synthesis of new metal-based antibiotics and investigating their mode-of action. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends and leisurely hike in nature.
